Just Had a Dream: I Was Talking to an Old School Friend
Hello friends,
I had a friend in school — let’s not name him.
In the beginning, I didn’t really like him because he was very popular and also rich.
My grades were better than his, and I used to wonder — why don’t people value me, and why do they value him?
He had 3 qualities I didn’t:
-
He was good-looking
-
He was rich
-
He was very funny
I used to be very jealous of him and secretly wished he would die.
Then, in 5th grade, I distanced myself from that friend circle and formed a new one — the Geek Squad.
The Geek Squad supported me a lot till 8th grade.
But I turned out to be quite a jerk. In 9th grade, after I lost some weight and started listening to English songs, I got a bit of attention from the “cool kids,” and I left the Geek Squad.
From 9th to 12th grade, I tried hanging out with the cool kids. When I was slim, I could blend in easily. But when I gained weight again, I felt like I didn’t deserve a spot among them.
That old friend of mine, by then, had gone from being a “cool kid” to a “fool kid.” He destroyed his self-esteem over a girl. He was always a bit of a clown, but now he became the king of clowns — and he still is, to this day.
He drives a Mercedes, goes on 4–6 international vacations every year, but if you talk to him, you realize he’s a certified idiot.
He came in my dream last night and was acting like his usual annoying self.
At one point, I found him cool and secretly wanted him to praise me — to say I was a great friend.
But the truth is, I’ve deleted him from my life and friend list.
Still, because I once considered him a friend and spent a lot of time with him, I guess that’s why the regret is surfacing through dreams — that I made a complete idiot my friend. People like him should never be made friends in the first place.
