I Worked Like an Indian Army Soldier at Nagarro

Hello friends,

This might sound a little weird, but I’ve always loved fictional stories since childhood.

I used to find the office environment and people really boring, but I knew that I had to do a lot of work — because only through work would I achieve success and money.

So, to keep myself motivated, I started mapping the designations in an IT service-based company to the ranks of the Indian Army, and tried to bring sincerity and responsibility into my job.

  • Trainee Engineer became “Gentleman Cadet”

  • Junior Engineer became “Lieutenant”

  • Engineer became “Captain”

  • Senior Engineer became “Major”

  • Associate Tech Lead became “Lieutenant Colonel”

  • Tech Lead became “Colonel”

When I was at Nagarro, I spent most of my time as an Engineer, which mapped to “Captain.”

I used to write one line repeatedly in my work notebook:
“Kaptaani khoon mein hai mere!”
(Translation: “Leadership runs in my blood!”)
— and that line used to give me a lot of motivation to deliver work super fast.

Most of the tasks, I used to finish in half the estimated time.
If a task was supposed to take 10 days, I’d get it done in 5–6 days.

People in my team and account used to call me “Cheetah” because of how blazing fast my performance was.

I think I should do the same in my current company too.
