I Got A+ Ratings for 8 Consecutive Quarters
Hello friends,
In IT service-based companies, your performance is rated every quarter.
You get one of these five ratings:
A+, A, B+, B, C
-
A+ means you’ve done outstanding, top-notch work.
-
A means you’ve done great work.
-
B+ means your work was average.
-
B means your performance was below average and you need to improve.
-
C means your work was really poor—and you probably shouldn't be in the company anymore.
In my initial few quarters, I received A ratings, but once I started delivering rockstar-level performance, I began getting A+ ratings every quarter, and I got addicted to that appreciation.
I always aimed to deliver the best of the best work.
At that time, I was single—no girlfriend, no plans for marriage—so I dedicated all my time to my work and to increasing my income.
Nagarro also enrolled me in the NAGP program, where I began learning new technologies.
Everything was going well, but Nagarro always acted stingy during appraisals.
In 2018, I had done incredible work—developed almost 8–10 features—but Nagarro gave me an appraisal of ₹2.14 lakhs.
Meanwhile, a friend of mine, who used to go to the gym during office hours, leave for home by 4 PM, and didn’t even have good coding skills, was given ₹2.42 lakhs.
This upset me deeply, and I submitted a request for an appraisal review.
The review meeting lasted 40–45 minutes, and after that, they revised my appraisal to ₹2.5 lakhs.
I got what I wanted—but I still felt really bad that even after working so hard, I had to fight just to get a slightly better appraisal.
That’s when I started feeling that Nagarro didn’t value me, and I decided to start looking for a job elsewhere.
In 2019, I switched companies.
I'll share the story of that switch in the next post.
