How I Got a 7.5 LPA CTC Offer from Deloitte
Hello friends,
My first appraisal at Nagarro was ₹1 lakh, which I initially thought was fine.
But then I found out that some of my friends had received appraisals of ₹2–2.5 lakhs.
Seeing more ghee on someone else’s plate always stings.
I spoke to HR about revising my appraisal, but she refused.
She said the appraisal was fair, and if I insisted, she could maybe increase it by 5%.
It felt like I was begging.
That’s when my ego got hurt, and I started looking for a job outside.
I had already been preparing, and by then I had pretty solid knowledge of Spring Boot.
So I cleared all the interviews at Deloitte, and they offered me a CTC of ₹7.5 LPA.
I think that included around 10% as a variable component.
The moment I got the offer, I felt like resigning.
But there was one problem—the job was in Bangalore.
My uncle explained to me that if I moved to Bangalore, I’d have to bear the rent, food, and other expenses myself—things that were currently being sponsored by my parents.
So, if my current company matched the offer, I would be able to save more.
I spoke to my current company and told them that the appraisal was too low and showed them the Deloitte offer. I asked if they could match it.
Nagarro proposed to revise the CTC to a bit less than the Deloitte offer. And that’s how I didn’t resign and continued with Nagarro.
I think the appraisal had been decided by my director, and when he found out that I now cost ₹1 lakh more, he moved me to a different project where I had to play a fire-fighting role.
The work was really tough, but after completing it, not only did I earn a good reputation in the project—but across the entire account.
It was like a Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, and Virat Kohli-level performance in a tough match.
It required a lot of effort, but it was definitely worth it.
After that project, I gained a lot of confidence in life.
